Frank Lin, Associate
Mr. Lin has been a licensed attorney in the State of Texas since 2006 and has been admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office since 2010. With experience in both federal and state courts, Mr. Lin focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation and intellectual property litigation involving copyright, trademark, misappropriation of trade secrets, and patent law. He is experienced in all areas of litigation including conducting pre-suit investigations, drafting and filing lawsuits, conducting discovery, drafting motions, and preparing for and attending trial. In addition, Mr. Lin has post-trial experience, including execution on judgments and conducting appeals.
In 2001, Mr. Lin graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor of science in biochemistry and went on to work as an environmental scientist in the air measurements group for two nationally recognized consulting companies. In 2003, Mr. Lin began law school at South Texas College of Law and graduated in 2006. During law school, he was an articles editor for CURRENTS INTERNATIONAL TRADE LAW JOURNAL, wherein he also has an article published discussing the rampant piracy of several forms of media in China. He also served as president of the law school's Intellectual Property Technology Law Society and vice-president of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association.
Representative Recent Experience
- Drafted motion for summary judgment against foreign company engaged in the manufacture and distribution of devices used for the illegal circumvention of conditional access security systems protecting copyrighted satellite television programming, resulting in multi-million dollar judgment for clients
- Drafted motion for sanctions for civil contempt against defendant engaged in satellite television piracy for refusal to participate in post-judgment discovery of assets, resulting in writ of garnishment of wages and seizure of property by U.S. Marshals
- Obtained favorable settlements in various cases involving defendants engaged in the unlawful circumvention of conditional access security systems protecting satellite television provider's copyrighted programming and engaged in the unauthorized interception and decryption of encrypted satellite television signals
